Shipping Information
General Information
We at BlackboxRC truly appreciate all of your support! We're a small but growing business, and we're committed to getting your RC gear to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
We source our products directly from KAVAN, a trusted leader in RC components and accessories. This means we don't carry physical stock on our shelves — instead, we coordinate directly with the supplier to ensure you get authentic, quality products with the latest availability.
Currently all orders are processed and shipped from Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa.
We primarily use The Courier Guy for deliveries. On some occasions, we may use Postnet or other couriers if needed.
As an ONLINE-ONLY operation, we don't offer in-store pickup at this stage. Since we operate from Hermanus (an outlying area), this adds 1 day to standard shipping times.
Delivery Timeline – Please Read Carefully
Please allow 2–3 weeks from the date we receive your payment for your order to arrive. Here's what that timeline includes:
- Order processed – We coordinate your order with our supplier.
- Items sourced – Your items are prepared and shipped from KAVAN.
- Arrives in SA – We receive your parcel at our Hermanus location.
- We ship to you – We dispatch your order via courier to your address.
Breaking it down:
- In major cities (Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, etc.): Expect delivery 2–3 weeks from payment, plus 1–2 days once we ship.
- In outlying areas or northern regions (Gauteng, Limpopo, NW, KZN, MP): Expect 2–3 weeks from payment, plus 2–4 additional days once we ship.
Stock Availability: All items on our website are sourced directly from KAVAN on demand. This is why the timeline is consistent — we're not waiting for items to arrive separately; we're coordinating directly with the supplier.
Order Tracking
Once we ship your parcel, you'll receive an email with tracking information. From that point, courier delivery times are largely beyond our control, but we'll help where we can.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your location and order weight.
Delays & Unforeseen Circumstances
While we strive to meet our estimated timelines, unforeseen circumstances (weather, courier delays, import delays, or supply chain disruptions) may occasionally extend delivery. If this happens, we'll keep you informed.
International Orders
As a general rule, we do not currently offer shipping to international clients. However, if you're interested, please contact us — we may be able to work something out with your freight forwarder.
International clients would need to arrange their own freight from South Africa. We can deliver to your nominated freight forwarder, and they'll handle it from there.
Refund & Returns Policy
14-Day Returns Window
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you're not happy with your order, you have 14 days from delivery to initiate a return or exchange.
What We Accept
- Products that are unused and in original condition with all packaging and components intact.
- Items returned within 14 days of delivery.
- Faulty or defective items — see the "Faulty or Defective Items" section below for details on how these are handled.
What We Don't Accept
- Items that show signs of use, wear, or modification.
- Custom or made-to-order products (unless defective).
- Items purchased on final-sale or clearance (clearly marked at checkout).
Exchanges
We're happy to swap items if you change your mind or ordered the wrong thing.
Standard exchanges (in-stock items):
- There's a 10% handling fee to process the exchange.
- The item must be 100% unused with all original packaging and components.
- You'll need to courier the item back to us for inspection before we process the exchange.
Special or made-to-order items:
- If we've specially ordered an item for you from KAVAN, we generally cannot exchange it — we'll have no use for it. Please double-check your order before purchasing.
- In rare cases where a backordered item is a fast-moving product, we may exchange it with a 20% handling fee, subject to the same conditions above.
Return shipping: You cover the cost of sending the item back to us. Once we receive and inspect it, we'll send the replacement out.
Refunds
For items you wish to return (changed your mind, ordered wrong item, etc.):
- Refunds are issued within 7–10 business days of us receiving and approving your returned item.
- The refund is credited to your original payment method.
- Shipping costs are non-refundable — you cover the cost of sending the item back to us.
- The item must be unused and in original condition with all components intact.
For faulty or defective items: See the "Faulty or Defective Items" section below, as these are handled through KAVAN's warranty process.
Faulty or Defective Items
If your item arrives damaged or is defective, contact us immediately at sales@blackboxrc.co.za with photos and details of the issue.
Here's how it works:
- We act as the handler of your case and will coordinate with KAVAN (our supplier) to resolve the issue.
- Depending on the nature of the fault, KAVAN will arrange a replacement or refund.
- Important: Return shipping costs for faulty items may be your responsibility. We'll advise you of this when we assess your case.
- We handle each situation on a case-by-case basis, so the outcome depends on the specifics of the fault.
We're committed to resolving faults fairly and quickly, but please understand that as a drop-shipped product, warranty and returns are subject to KAVAN's terms and conditions.
How to Start a Return or Exchange
- Contact us at sales@blackboxrc.co.za with your order number and reason for return.
- We'll provide return shipping instructions.
- Send your item back to us in secure packaging.
- Once we receive and inspect it, we'll process your refund or arrange your replacement.
